Advocating for a better world

I’m a forest ecologist and climate campaigner who’s spent the past decade working to protect Tasmania’s forests. I blend groundbreaking research with behind-the-scenes advocacy to push governments and stakeholders toward meaningful climate action.

Current Projects

Formal protection for the grove of giants

While leading The Tree Projects, I helped drive a successful campaign to protect the Grove of Giants, one of Tasmania’s most spectacular stands of old-growth forest. Through collective effort, we secured informal protection for this globally significant ecosystem.

But this is just the beginning. Achieving formal reservation status is an ambitious yet entirely achievable next step. I want to ensure permanent protection of this remarkable forest. With the Grove already emerging as a popular destination, there’s a powerful opportunity to conserve the giants, improve access, and create a model for conservation that protects nature while connecting people to it.

forest protection is climate action

For the past five years, I’ve been driving a clear message: protecting Tasmania’s native forests is the most powerful climate actions the state can take. My research shows native forest logging is the state’s highest-emitting sector in Tasmania, making action not just important, but urgent.

My work sits at the intersection of two defining crises of our time: climate change and biodiversity loss. Through ongoing research, advocacy, and direct engagement with politicians and stakeholders, I’m pushing for solutions that protect forests while cutting emissions. Protecting forests is climate action at its most effective.

provide ground-breaking research

Over the past five years, I’ve produced more than ten research reports exploring issues relating to forests and climate change. I translate complex science into clear, compelling insights. My work spans the impacts of logging on wildlife and carbon emissions, policy pathways to protect species like the Swift Parrot, and the untapped tourism potential of Tasmania’s forests.

I’m deeply committed to making science understandable and actionable for broad audiences. My work continues to evolve through new projects that inform policy, engage communities, and build momentum for stronger protections for nature.
